Stunning plus delicious equals

Located on Kings Road, Chelsea, the recently opened restaurant, Nirvana, offers its own flavour of contemporary Indian cuisine in a simple yet sophisticated setting, at surprisingly low prices.

Nirvana opened its doors approximately three months ago and has already gained a reputation for top quality Indian cuisine with a twist. ’s highly acclaimed Head Chef ‘Baz’, has harnessed his 16 years of catering experience to create a menu which combines traditional Indian cuisine with originality and stunning presentation. ‘Baz’ - whose culinary talents were recently documented in LWT’s television program ‘The Borough’ - has taken and personalised two of the most popular dishes from each of the restaurants that he has worked in during his established career, to produce Nirvana’s varied and extensive menu.

The restaurant’s emphasis on quality means that all dishes are prepared daily. For example, the ‘melt in your mouth’ (as my dining guest described) Patties of Lamb, is coated with roasted chick peas, which the chef grinds himself. All sauces are prepared daily, and all ingredients are fresh, ensuring diners get the best flavour and nutrition from their meal. Such quality I particularly noted in the Vegetable Platter items, which were delicately spiced to a level that did not muffle the freshness of the vegetables.

Interesting dishes include the Papri Chat starter - small Bombay Mix-like biscuits topped with chick peas, cubed potatoes served with a yoghurt and tamarind relish. My main dish choice, Stuffed Pepper - with mashed potato and nuts - provided a delicious alternative to the usual suspects of more typical Indian vegetarian menus. For the more health conscious Nirvana also offers delicious Ayurvedic dishes.
